Description
I've had this fan for years now in hopes of finding out something about but I've given up and here it is for sale. This is a heavy OLD ELECTRIC FAN possibly made by S.E.W(?) or maybe even G.E. for export to China or Japan sometime early in the 20th century. Front badge looks like S E W to me but the E is almost identical to the E that General Electric used and what looks like an S could possibly be a G? I just don't know. Even more of a mystery is the badge about the area where you switch speeds. It is entirely in either Chinese or Japanese! Fan is very similar in appearance to a GE fan from the 1920s or so but I truly have not a clue as to who made this or why is has a Chinese/Japanese plate on front. The fan stands about 17". Four blades on the fan. Wire cage is about 13 1/2" x 3". Base and motor (not counting attached cage) stands about 13" tall. Fan weighs about 16 1/2 lbs. Mechanism is present, in the back, that allows the fan to oscillate. The wiring/cord between the motor and the base looks as though it has shorted out. The cloth cord from the base to the plug is in pretty good shape but the plug is smashed. I do not know if the fan works as the electrical wiring needs replaced. There is one 4" piece of wire on the front of the fan cage that has broken off and disappeared. A few spots of paint chipping, very light surface rust, and a white paint splotch on the back. A few small bolts/screws/nuts that hold the cage together are missing. Fan is kinda dirty too (I didn't take the cage off to clean the blades, etc.).Fan needs some repair work but I think it will be worth this as this appears to be a rather rare old fan.Buyer to pay actual shipping from 97351 (shipping weight about 23 lbs.). Please email me if you have any questions.                 Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool.
