Magicians Magic Trick Original Thornton 100 Foot Reel Start Price USD 495.00 Current Price USD 495.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Monday, September 01, 2008 End Time Monday, September 08, 2008 Location Wantagh, NY See more about 'Magicians Magic Trick Original Thornton 100 Foot Reel' Description  For the collector,  it doesn't get much better than this with rarity.  This is the first and last time you will ever see this apparatus on ebay in this condition, which by the way is new never used condition.  This is the Thornton 100 Foot Black Thread Reel, which was manufactured in the 40's  and 50's.  Cardini Also made a reel similiar to the Thornton Reel.  I have seen both, and had both.  I am partial to the Thornton reel for two reasons one the Thornton reel is easy to repair (although I have never had to repair mine),  I have known other owners of the Thornton reel, who have said that to access the innards is a simple procedure.   Second the Thornton Reel is a 100 foot reel whereas the Cardini Reel is 50 feet.  Both reels were in my opinion the height of engineering perfection when it came to reel design, and the only match in todays standards is the Todd Lassen Reel.  This Thornton reel came out of a safety deposit box of the estate of a British Magician who passed away a few months ago. I purchased most of the items in his estate. His reel has never been used it is in it's original box, with the original instructions.  You can make a Silk go flying across a stage, which is precisely  what Cardini  did early on in his shows with his 50 foot reel. This reel in the condition wherein if you could time travel in time and went back to the Le Roi Magic Studio in Merriden Conn, and bought one of these reels this is what it would look like at the time of sale new in the box.  In perfect Cosmetic and working order.  Place a Bid!
